Background

Hibur is an initiative to build permanent, institutional links between two peer institutions: MIT and the Technion - Israel Institute of Technology. The first connections were formed by students, and the energy generated from them was used to attract involvement from faculty and administrators.

What does the word 'Hibur' mean?

Hibur is a Hebrew word for "connection", and it is an especially fitting title for the program, as it shares its root with the word for friend - haver. Ultimately, the purpose of the MIT-Technion Hibur program is to forge the links of friendship between both institutions and the individuals within them.

Goals

100_5016 Hibur strives to build on the interpersonal links of friendship in order to develop academic connections and collaborations between the Institutes: from study abroad programs, hosting visiting students, and videoconference lectures to joint research proposals, combined academic symposia, and faculty sabbaticals.
